The Churchfitters is a folk band like no other. A double bass made out of a saucepan. Heart-wrenching vocals accompanied by a musical saw or a glass harp. Foot-stompingly fast fiddle mixed with infectious funk-rock rhythms. And traditional tunes reinvigorated with mesmerising jazz sax.  Anglo-French Alt-Folk

The Gigspanner Big Band are a unique force in British folk music. High-energy, virtuosic performances appeal to both traditionalists and those looking for something more experimental. Described as ‘melodically folk-rooted yet open and innovative beyond the constraints of genre’.

Martin Carthy

Another of the greats comes to Launceston. He taught tunes to Bob Dylan in ’62 and has played with just about everyone. A distinctive guitar style and a wealth of experience foretell a night to remember.

Sunday 8th December

Launceston Town Hall

Phil Beer

And yet another of the greats comes to Launceston. Phil in solo mode following the end of Show of Hands activities.

‘Phil is one of the most popular ambassadors for acoustic roots music. A dazzling instrumentalist, he is perhaps best known as a top flight fiddler’ – or so they say. He says “I’ve now been ‘on the road’ for 45 years. I’m amazed I’m still standing. I’ve made hundreds of albums with bands/singers/ musicians and done gigs with them.”

Whatever – A great treat in store for us – acoustic music at its very best.
