The Musical Journeys of Ric Sanders and Vo Fletcher
We are very fortunate to have Ric Sanders and Vo Fletcher playing for us in Launceston on Weds 14th of August for our summer special. So we thought it might be good to give you a bit of a background about who they are and what they have been up to in their long and fabulous careers!
Ric Sanders: Violin Virtuoso
Ric Sanders, a name synonymous with virtuosity and innovation in the world of music, has carved out a niche as one of the most remarkable violinists of our time. Born into a family with a rich musical heritage, Ric picked up the violin at a young age and quickly demonstrated a prodigious talent that would define his career.
Ric’s musical journey is a fascinating blend of classical training and adventurous exploration. His early years saw him immersed in the world of classical music, but it wasn’t long before he branched out into other genres, bringing his unique flair to jazz, folk, and rock. This eclectic mix of influences has given Ric a distinctive style that is both technically brilliant and emotionally compelling.
As a member of the legendary folk rock band Fairport Convention since 1985, Ric has contributed to some of the most iconic recordings and performances in the genre. His innovative approach to the violin has not only expanded the boundaries of folk music but has also influenced countless musicians across the globe.
In addition to his work with Fairport Convention, Ric’s solo projects and collaborations with other artists showcase his versatility and relentless creativity. He has worked with the likes of Rick Wakeman, Robert Plant, Roy Harper, Martin Simpson, Procul Harem, Jethro Tull, and many more! Whether in the studio or on stage, Ric Sanders continues to push the envelope, captivating audiences with his masterful play and boundless energy.
Vo Fletcher: Brilliant Bluesman
Vo Fletcher is a seasoned musician whose journey through the world of music is nothing short of enchanting. Born with an innate talent for the guitar, Vo has spent decades honing his craft and captivating audiences with his soulful performances.
